Overexpressed interleukin-6 functionally impaired CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells in patients with oral lichen planus: an in vitro study

ConclusionsIL-6 was elevated in peripheral blood and local lesions in patients with OLP. In vitro, the inhibition effect of Treg on proliferation of autologous Teff in patients with OLP was significantly lower than that in healthy controls. This phenotype could be reversed in vitro when neutralizing IL-6. IL-6 may be an important factor affecting the immune homeostasis in OLP.
