Coronary Angiography Characteristics of Symptomatic Patients with Prior Coronary Artery Bypass Graft: A Descriptive Study.

Coronary Angiography Characteristics of Symptomatic Patients with Prior Coronary Artery Bypass Graft: A Descriptive Study. Biomed Res Int. 2019;2019:1832128 Authors: Ma X, Chen P, Zhao Y, Zeng C, Xin M, Ye Q, Wang J Abstract Objectives: The target of this study was to explore the coronary angiography characteristics for symptomatic patients with prior coronary artery bypass graft (CABG). Methods: Between 2009 and 2017, 993 patients who had undergone CABG but subsequently suffered recurrent symptoms in Beijing Anzhen Hospital were selected for this study and divided into either medical therapy (MT) group (n = 351) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) group (n = 642) based on the treatment. Clinical data were analyzed between two groups. Results: Patients in the MT group were older and more likely to have chronic lung disease (6.6% vs 3.4%, P=0.026) while patients in the PCI group were more likely to have prior MI (8.8% vs 17.0%, P

We report recent trends and predictors of ACS hospitalisation LOS in New Zealand. METHODS: Using routine national hospitalisation datasets, we calculated mean LOS for ACS admissions annually from 2006 to 2016, by demographics, ACS subtype and ACS procedures (coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)). We also identified predictors of longer LOS. RESULTS: Among 185,962 ACS hospitalisations, mean LOS decreased from 7.8 to 6.7 days between 2006 and 2016 (adjusted decrease = -0.18 days/year). Decline in LOS was observed for all demographic subgroups by age...

CONCLUSION: The study cohort is comparable to published SCAD cohorts, but notable for a racially and ethnically diverse population. Compared with the controls, only pregnancy and hyperlipidemia were associated with SCAD. For the SCAD cases, major adverse cardiovascular events occurred in 8.1%, and race did not influence outcomes. An estimated 400,000 coronary artery bypass graft operations are performed annually in the United States. Saphenous vein grafts are the most commonly used conduits; however, graft failure is common. In contrast, left internal mammary artery grafts have more favorable long-term patency rates. Guidelines recommend aggressive secondary prevention. In the 2 decades following surgery, 16% of patients require repeat revascularization, and percutaneous coronary intervention accounts for 98% of procedures performed. Post-coronary artery bypass graft patients presenting with symptoms of acute coronary syndrome or progressive heart ...

Evaluating trends in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and invasive coronary procedures, including coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) can identify areas for improvement in clinical care and inform future health planning. This national data-linkage study reports trends in ACS hospitalisations and procedure rates in New Zealand between 2006 and 2016.

ConclusionIn this current analysis, we did not note any treatment bias or difference in the rate of in-hospital total mortality for HIV-seropositive patients presenting with AMI compared with the general population.

The aim of the cohort study was to investigate the relationship between plasma lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with 3-vessel disease (TVD) after the following treatment strategies, including medical therapy (MT) alone, percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI), and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). A total of 6,175 consecutive patients with angiographically confirmed TVD and available baseline Lp(a) data were included in this study. Based on the median level of Lp(a) at admission, the patient was divided into two sub-groups.

Yasada et  al (N Engl J Med 2019;381:1103, PMID 31475793) conducted a prospective randomized multicenter trial of 2236 patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who had undergone percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass grafting more than 1 year earlier or who had angiographically confirmed coronary artery disease not requiring revascularization. Patients were randomized to monotherapy with rivaroxaban or combination therapy with rivaroxaban plus a single antiplatelet agent. The primary efficacy end point was a composite of stroke, systemic embolism, myocardial infarction, unstable ang ina requiring r...

ConclusionsAdvanced hybrid coronary revascularization at our institution was safely performed with excellent early outcomes, graft patency, and high achievement of complete or near-complete revascularization. Residual SYNTAX score might predict long-term ischemic events after hybrid coronary revascularization.
