The incidence of Malignancy and Survival in Patients with Idiopathic Pleuritis

Conclusion: Our study confirms that the incidence of malignancy in idiopathic pleuritis after VATS is low. Nearly all incident cases of malignancy were diagnosed within 12 months from VATS. Our data suggest that follow-up of idiopathic pleuritis could be limited to 1 year, however, the optimal follow-up strategy remains to be investigated. No survival disadvantage was observed, supporting the grave prognosis of pleural malignancy.
