This study investigated the effects of glibenclamide on transplant-induced arteriosclerosis as well as the underlying molecular events.MethodsMale C57Bl/6 (H-2b) and BALB/c (H-2d) mice were used for aorta transplantation. We used hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and Elastic Van Gieson (EVG) staining for histological assessment, and qRT-PCR and ELISA to measure mRNA and protein levels. Mouse peritoneal macrophages were isolated for lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation and glibenclamide treatment followed by ELISA, Western blot, and Transwell assays.ResultsGlibenclamide inhibited transplant-induced arteriosclerosis in vivo. Morpho...

Conclusions: Our estimated rates of prevalence of GP in T1DM and T2DM indicate that GP is not a common clinical complication in these populations. Majority of EMRs that indicated a diagnosis of GP did not include any documentation of definitive diagnostic testing (EGD and/or GES).

Authors: Arya DS, Chowdhury S, Chawla R, Das AK, Ganie MA, Kumar KMP, Nadkar MY, Rajput R Abstract Pharmacotherapy with fixed dose combination (FDC) drugs is becoming popular as evidence-based clinical guidelines recommend using multiple therapeutic agents in complex regimens for many chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). FDC formulations have unique advantages such as complementary mechanism of action, synergistic effects, better tolerability, elongated product life-cycle management, and cost savings. Polypharmacy is a frequent problem in T2DM patients having hypertension, dyslipidemia, and o...

This study evaluated the adherence and swallowing experience with novel oval-shaped, compact-sized metformin (500 mg/1000 mg)-glimepiride (1mg/2mg) combination, sustained-release tablet (Gluformin G1/Gluformin G2 SR; GM-new-SR) in Indian patients with T2DM, previously treated with conventional metformin-glimepiride combination tablet. Methods: Patients' adherence, swallowing experience, and satisfaction were assessed at baseline and month-3 by Adherence to Refills and Medication Scale (ARMS12; adherent: ARMS12 score=12; nonadherent: ARMS12 score>12) and questionnaire based 5-point Likert scale, respectively. Safety ...

The objective of this study was to determine the association of Computed tomography quantified visceral (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) using CKD-EPI formula, diabetes mellitus, body mass index (BMI), proteinuria, lipid profile, and hypertension. Increased adipose tissue is the primary phenotypic characteristic of obesity. The amount and distribution of adipose tissue is associated with many adverse consequences, as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease etc. Abdominal CT with semi-automated software can quantify adipose tissue and predict the risk...
