Veteran looking for advice about medical school acceptance

by MrReeves (Posted Fri Jun 21, 2013 8:07 pm)i apologize if i'm not posting in the right category first and for most.I am trying to get a realistic idea of what i need to do to get into medical school whether MD/DO, and anything else I can do to help with my chances of being accepted anywhere.-I am a 24 y/o African american male and will have my bachelors next year in micro biology. GPA is 3.2 currectly. (low due to health problem while in the military, (4 F's from a month long stay at the hospital in the middle of the semester and no the school wont remove the grades with the documentation))-I am a 90% disabled veteran that wore a medical badge in the military. AFSC (job) was aerospace physiology, with 8 medals-500 volunteer hours shadowing in a microlab and with pathology.-150 volunteer hours at a local orphanage. plus another 150 "Mandatory fun" volunteer hours from the military ranging from picking up trash to driving DV's around.-I will have 9 months from the time i graduate till medical school starts and plan on getting a MLT (med tech)certification to pass the time and help with my acceptance. (6 months where i live)*i haven't taken my mcat yet because i haven't completed organic chem but i have done well on the practice test.please no hate mail I'm just really trying to complete a step towards a goal and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
