We report a case series of four patients with PKDL, across three districts of Bihar state, who developed eye complications during treatment. They presented with acute scleritis and corneal infiltration with or without corneal ulceration. One patient solely with corneal infiltration recovered completely. The three others with corneal ulceration healed with corneal opacificity. One patient with bilateral eye involvement underwent corneal transplantation to prevent blindness. In this study we postulate that pfn-1 knock down promotes epithelial lineage by inhibiting the integrin-β1(CD29)/mTOR pathway and subsequent NANOG down-expression. ConclusionsThe study reveals a dynamic development of the eye bank over the last 30  years and emphasizes the importance of an active quality management in coping with the challenges of modern eye banking. CONCLUSIONS: Infectious interface keratitis (IIK) is an uncommon complication of lamellar keratoplasty, but it can result in a substantial loss of vision or permanent blindness. Although graft infection can occur at any time following surgery, it most commonly (87%) occurred during the first 3 months postoperatively (54/62 cases).
