Eating disorders are potentially fatal and highly impairing disorders that can present with medical and psychiatric acuity and complexity. Additionally, comorbidity is common. This Clinical Perspectives will explore specific challenges in treating eating disorders, including discussions from both medical and psychiatric inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, and the impact of comorbid substance abuse.
