3.2 current diagnosis and assessment of intellectual developmental disorder

Although around 1 percent of the population has an intellectual development disorder (IDD), estimates show that around 30 –50 percent of the population have at least 1 mental health co-occurring disorder. Therefore, it is important that the clinician assess for IDD when a new patient presents in mental health settings. This lecture is an up-to-date review of the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria of IDD and assessment recomme ndations.
