3.25 infant delirium: developmental challenges to interpretation of level of consciousness with bedside screening
Delirium assessments in newborn infants pose specific challenges because of the pattern of their unique sleep-wake cycle and rapid developmental evolution. We review the importance of understanding normal sleep-wake cycles in infants when assessing the level of consciousness (LOC), a key aspect of delirium assessment.
