3.40 clonidine versus guanfacine in intellectual disability: tangible outcomes in the south bronx child and adolescent psychiatric inpatient setting

The treatment of patients with intellectual disability (ID) presents with multiple challenges, because ID is associated with elevated rates of comorbidity and hyperactivity. It is possible that α2 agonists can augment outcomes in this population. Our study’s aim was to evaluate α2-agonist pharmacotherapy as a predictor of decreased length of stay and improvement in other indirect measures of function in the inpatient treatment of children with and without intellectual impairment (II).
