Adherence to Treat-to-Target Management in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Associated Factors: Data from the International RA BIODAM Cohort.

CONCLUSION: Lack of adherence to T2T in the RA BIODAM cohort was evident in a substantial proportion despite being a protocol requirement and this could be predicted by clinical features. PMID: 31523049 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

During this period, complex interactions between the environmental and genetic causes occur, and the expression “preclinical RA” has been proposed to define it. Early treatment intervention is associated with less joint damage and has an increased possibility of achieving remission. In this review, we provide an overvie...

l;nke G Abstract Mononuclear phagocytes, including monocytes and macrophages, are a central component of the host's innate immune system designated to protect against invading pathogens. However, these cells do not only interact with various parts of the innate and adaptive immune system, but also fulfill indispensable duties during the control of tissue homeostasis and organ function. Moreover, macrophages are crucially involved in tissue remodeling and repair in response to damage. Simultaneously, mononuclear phagocytes might also contribute to the pathogenesis of various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. In...

In this study, we found that the water extracts of Boseokchal (BSC-W) inhibited osteoclast differentiation in vitro and investigated its inhibitory mechanism. BSC-W was obtained by extracting flour of Boseokchal using hexane and water. To osteoclast differentiation, bone marrow-derived macrophage cells (BMMs) were cultured with the vehicle (0.1% DMSO) or BSC-W in the presence of M-CSF and RANKL for 4 days. Cytotoxicity was measured by CCK-8. Gene expression of cells was confirmed by real-time PCR. Protein expression of cells was observed by western blot assay. Bone resorption activity of osteoclast evaluated by bone pit fo...

ConclusionsThe hypoglycemic mechanism of DOP might be associated with the regulation of glucagon-mediated hepatic glycogen metabolism and gluconeogenesis, and of liver glycogen structure, contributing to improved hepatic glucose metabolism in diabetic mice.Graphical abstractDOP could regulate glucagon-mediated signaling pathways and reverse the instability of liver glycogen structure, contributing to improved hepatic glucose metabolism.

AbstractAryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), a type of transcriptional factor, is widely expressed in immune cells. The activation of AhR signaling pathway depends on its ligands, which exist in environment and can also be produced by metabolism. Normal expressions of AhR and AhR-mediated signaling may be essential for immune responses, and effects of AhR signaling on the development and function of innate and adaptive immune cells have also been revealed in previous studies. Recent studies also indicate that aberrant AhR signaling may be related to autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus eryth...

AbstractBackgroundMorning stiffness is a hallmark symptom of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but its etiology is poorly understood. We sought to determine whether any histologic features of synovium associate with this symptom.MethodsPatient reports of morning stiffness duration, stiffness severity and disease activity scores (DAS28) were collected from 176 patients with RA undergoing arthroplasty. Histopathology of synovium was scored for 10 features: synovial lining hyperplasia, lymphocytes, plasma cells, Russell bodies, binucleate plasma cells, fibrin, synovial giant cells detritus, neutrophils and mucin. Fibrinolysis of clo...
