External iliac vein compression and lower-extremity swelling caused by an iliopectineal ganglion: a case report

ConclusionsNeedle aspiration of the ganglion was performed, and swelling of the lower extremity promptly decreased. At 7.5 years after aspiration, there was no recurrence of swelling of the leg. Although the recurrence rate for ganglions after needle aspiration is high, it is worthwhile trying aspiration first.

A 20-year-old man submitted to surgical insertion of a lumboperitoneal drain as a treatment for intracranial hypertension, secondary to venous sinus thrombosis, developed severe headache accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and diplopia 24 hours postoperative. In this study, we found that senescent chondrocytes isolated from OA patients secrete more EVs compared with nonsenescent chondrocytes. These EVs inhibit cartilage ECM deposition by healthy chondrocytes and can induce a senescent state in nearby cells. In this study, we evaluated ATA as a potential antiviral drug against ZIKV replication. The antiviral activity of ATA against ZIKV replication in vitro showed median inhibitory concentrations (IC50) of 13.87 ± 1.09 μM and 33.33 ± 1.13 μM in Vero and A549 cells, respectively; without showing any cytotoxic effect in both cell lines (median cytotoxic concentration (CC50)> 1,000 μM). Thrombosis of the femoral vein may be caused by external obstruction. A 48-year-old female patient presented with leg swelling and a history of recurrent femoral venous thrombosis caused by a ganglion originating from the left hip joint. A CT-guided puncture had also been performed, which was followed by rapid refilling of the cyst.Thereafter, femoral vein was decompressed and the ganglion was resected. Pathology confirmed a synovial cyst. After an uneventful stay the patient was discharged on oral anticoagulation.

CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that an RORγ/IL-17A axis influences VEGF production and neovascular retinopathy by mechanisms involving neuroglia.
