Patterns of Recovery From Pain After Cesarean Delivery

(Pain. 2018;159:2088–2096) There is a lack of knowledge about patterns of recovery from pain and its predictors after surgery. Often times, clinicians only witness pain experience if the patient returns for routine care after discharge, which overall limits the clinical ability to provide appropriate pain management. In order to establish clinically relevant, generalizable patterns of recovery, as well as identify predictors from preoperative and perioperative data, patients were followed for 2 months after elective cesarean delivery via text-messaging to assess daily pain scores.
