Nationwide study on medical students ’ knowledge and behaviors related to sun protection

Background: One in five Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70. High levels of exposure to the sun and other UV-light sources are considered to be the biggest risk factors for the development of all types of skin cancer. Americans are more likely to see a primary care physician than a dermatologist. As such, it is important that doctors of all specialties are able to counsel patients on proper sun protection
