Retraction Note to: Ultrasound Elastography supplement assessing nodal status of magnetic resonance imaging staged cervical N0 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma

The Editors have retracted this article [1] because figure 2 has been substantially duplicated from a previously published article by Chen B et al., 2018 [2]. There is also significant and uncited overlap in t...

Abstract AP-1 is a dimeric complex that is composed of JUN, FOS, ATF and MAF protein families. FOS-related antigen 1 (FRA1) which encoded by FOSL1 gene, belongs to the FOS protein family, and mainly forms an AP-1 complex with the protein of the JUN family to exert an effect. Regulation of FRA1 occurs at levels of transcription and post-translational modification, and phosphorylation is the major post-translational modification. FRA1 is mainly regulated by the mitogen-activated protein kinases signaling pathway and is degraded by ubiquitin-independent proteasomes. FRA1 can affect biological functions, such as tumor...

This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of combining pretreatment Epstein ‐Barr virus (EBV) DNA level and cervical node necrosis (CNN) for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) receiving intensity‐modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). A total of 607 incident nonmetastatic NPC patients treated with IMRT ± chemotherapy were reviewed. Patients were divided into four g roups based on EBV DNA level and CNN status. The primary endpoint was progression‐free survival (PFS). Kaplan‐Meier curves with log‐rank test were applied to compare survival outcomes and the Cox proportional model was used t...

Conclusion: These results suggest that apatinib might be effective for not only gastric cancer but also other carcinomas including lung cancer, colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, and nasopharyngeal cancer. Thus, apatinib is a promising targeted drug for multiple types of cancer.

Authors: Yao Z, Zhang Y, Xu D, Zhou X, Peng P, Pan Z, Xiao N, Yao J, Li Z Abstract d_abstr_R Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), a group of non-protein-coding RNAs longer than 200 nucleotides, are involved in multiple biological and pathological processes, such as proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, angiogenesis, and immune escape. Many studies have shown that lncRNAs participate in the complex network of cancer and play vital roles as oncogenes or tumor-suppressor genes in a variety of cancers. Moreover, recent research has shown that abnormal expression of lncRNAs in malignant tumor cells before and after ...

Authors: Das AK, Baishya N, Sarma A, Kataki AC, Rai AK, Kalita CR Abstract INTRODUCTION: Nasopharyngeal cancer is not a common disease in most parts of the world. In India also, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is not a common cancer, except for the Northeastern region of the country. Expression of matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9) in the tumor cells is related to tumor invasion and metastasis. The aim of the present study is to analyze the expression of MMP9 in NPC and evaluate its prognostic implications. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 32 histologically confirmed tissue samples of NPC were examined by immuno...

Abstract PURPOSE: To compare clinical features and survival outcomes in patients with ascending type (type A) and descending type (type D) nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in the intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) era. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 5194 patients with type A and type D NPC treated at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were randomly selected. Tumors that were mainly advanced local disease (T3-4 stage) with early stage cervical lymph node involvement (N0-1 stage) were determined as type A, while tumors with advanced lymph node disease (N2-3 stage) but early stage local invasion (T1-2 st...

Li Liu, Jiajing Lin and Hongying He* Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Liuzhou Worker’s Hospital, Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, Liuzhou, China Background and Objective: Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignancy worldwide. Despite advances in the development of strategies for treating EC, prognosis of the disease remains unsatisfactory, especially for advanced EC. The aim of this study was to identify novel genes that can be used as potential biomarkers for identifying the prognosis of EC and to construct a novel risk stratification using these genes. Me...

Conclusions: 3D-HDR-BT achieves favorable clinical outcomes with mild late toxicity in patients with locally rNPC. Introduction Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a tumor of epithelial origin, is a malignant disease of the head and neck common in southern China, especially in Guangdong province (1). As a result of advances in modern imaging and irradiation techniques, the 5-year overall survival (OS) of patients with newly diagnosed NPC without metastasis has reached 75% after external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) in Asia (2, 3). However, local recurrence, which occurs in 18–40% of patients, remains a major reason for...
