Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top ten causes of deaths and the leading cause from a single infectious agent, with an estimated 1.3 million deaths in 2017.1 Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) accounted for 14% of the 6.4 million incident cases.1 Osteoarticular TB is ranked as the third most frequent form of EPTB.2 Early diagnosis and initiation of appropriate therapy are the best ways to prevent severe sequelae and mortality for osteoarticular TB patients. Therefore, continual progress in osteoarticular TB diagnosis is highly important.
