International organization recognizes Saskatchewan data expert

(Regenstrief Institute) The recipient of 2019 LOINC Award for Distinguished Contributions, an international award for data interoperability, completes the recognition of a leadership team that allows for effective communication of medical codes and diagnoses across Canada. Lorie Carey, of Saskatchewan, has been instrumental in improving data standards throughout Canada and developed the pan-Canadian LOINC Observation Code Database. LOINC was created at Regenstrief Institute in 1994 to ensure electronic exchange of medical data and is now used in 175 countries.
