ConclusionThus we can conclude that FNAC is a simple, safe and cost-effective diagnostic modality in the investigation of Thyroid nodule with high specificity and accuracy.

ConclusionsSubclassification of AUS/FLUS into three groups based on cytopathologic findings alone not only improved the triage of patients for subsequent clinical management but also effectively stratified the risk of malignancy.

This study aimed to assess the potential of state-of-the-art ultrasound analysis techniques to non-invasively diagnose axillary lymph nodes involvement in breast cancer. After exclusion criteria, 105 patients were selected from two different hospitals. The 118 lymph node ultrasound images taken from these patients were divided into 53 cases and 65 controls, which made up the study series. The clinical outcome of each node was verified by ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration, core needle biopsy or surgical biopsy.

We report a rare case of schwannoma arising in mediastinal lymph node diagnosed by endobronchial ultrasound. Schwannoma is a peripheral nerve sheath tumour that largely originates from the posterior mediastinum. Schwannoma arising in mediastinal lymph node is extremely rare. A 53 ‐year‐old female was referred to our hospital for the evaluation of enlarged mediastinal lymph node. Computed tomography scan revealed a non‐enhancing soft tissue mass at Rt. paratracheal area. Endobronchial ultrasound showed a well‐defined round‐shaped lymph node and transbronchial needle aspiration was performed from this lymph node. P...

We describe two patients with advanced non ‐small‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including one in whom the definitive diagnosis of pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PPC) was made by histopathology of the resected tumour and another in whom the diagnosis of “favor adenocarcinoma containing sarcomatoid components” was made by tissue biopsy. Both were resistant to first line platinum‐based chemotherapy, but responded dramatically to second line nivolumab therapy. We present two cases of pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PPC) treated with Nivolumab. A 57 ‐year‐old man presented with a 3.5‐cm mass in the left l...

Rapid on-site evaluation allows for triage for ancillary testing, including microbiologic cultures. We aim to determine the etiology of granulomatous inflammation diagnosed by FNAB by correlating with culture results and clinical history.Materials and methodsA 16-year retrospective review of cases diagnosed as “gran...

Authors: Li J, Wang Q, Wang L, Wang J, Wang D, Xin Z, Liu Y, Zhao Q Abstract Diagnostic value of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) combined with ultrasound for thyroid cancer was evaluated. A retrospective analysis was performed on the preoperative FNA and ultrasound data of 165 thyroid nodule patients, were divided into group A (≤1 cm group) and group B (>1 cm group) based on the maximum diameter line of the thyroid nodule. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of FNA, ultrasound and FNA combined with ultrasound in the diagnosis of thyroid cancer were anal...

This study compared the cytogenetic profiles of choroidal melanoma samples retrieved before and after proton beam irradiation. Twenty-four consecutive patients who underwent both fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) during tantalum clip positioning, and endoresection within three months of irradiation, were retrospectively included. Chromosome alterations were explored by array comparative genomic hybridization. Age at diagnosis was 50 ± 14 years, tumor thickness was 8.6 ± 1.7 mm and tumor diameter was 12.4 ± 2.3 mm. Six FNAB samples were non-contributive (25%), versus one endoresection sam...
