Polyaromatic resin HP-20 induced accumulation of intermediate azaphilones in Monascus purpureus ΔmppC and Δmpp7 strains.

This study demonstrates the possibility that extractive fermentation with Diaion HP-20 resin can be used to obtain cryptic azaphilone metabolites.
