Debate: postponing fertility by egg freezing

The average age at first birth has been climbing steadily in most wealthy countries and this has resulted in escalating rates of age-related infertility. Advances in technology mean that women can now choose to freeze their eggs to potentially increase their chances of achieving pregnancy at a later date. However, egg freezing is expensive, older age at parenting may confer risks for the mother and child and egg freezing does not address the main problem that leads women to freeze their eggs: lack of a suitable (male) partner who is willing to parent children.
