Role of arthroscopic surgery in degenerative knees with mechanical symptoms

Conclusion: We recommend arthroscopic surgery in patients with degenerative knees, with mechanical symptoms and acute exacerbation of symptoms, not amenable to conservative measures.

Data from a large national database report venous thromboembolism rates of 0.77% and 1.14% after hip arthroscopy at 30 and 90  days, respectively. ConclusionDespite the decrease in IBL with a tourniquet, no difference was found in TBL. In conclusion, not using a tourniquet or only using it during the cementation of implants was preferable based on the faster functional recovery, lower rate of DVTs and complications compared with using a tourniquet throughout the TKA procedure.Level of evidenceI.

Conclusions: The incidence of VTE after pediatric sports medicine knee arthroscopies is low, 0.27%. Patients who present with calf swelling or pain, chest pain, or shortness of breath after arthroscopic surgery should be examined closely. Level of Evidence: Level III.

Conclusions: VTE after adolescent knee arthroscopy has not been well described. The incidence is ∼0.25%. Previously established risk factors for VTE were present in 100% of the affected population.
