Significance of third trimester Ultrasound in detecting congenital abnormalities of kidney and urinary tract – a prospective study
Antenatal hydronephrosis (ANH) is defined as dilatation of the renal pelvis with or without dilatation of calyces in the developing fetus. Although second trimester scan is more sensitive in detecting congenital anomalies of kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT), it has been suggested that third trimester scan is more predictive of postnatal outcome.
Conclusions: Robot-assisted correction procedures can be done safely with good perioperative outcomes and a high post-operative success rate in a tertiary referral center. Conclusions: Laparoscopic ureteroneocystostomy with or without bladder flap (Boari) provides good functional outcomes with excellent success rates and minimal morbidity comparable to open surgery in patients with ureteric stricture.
Conclusion: Combination of traditional 99mTcDTPA renal dynamic scintigraphy and renogram with SPECT/CT could provide not only anatomical and functional information of kidneys and ureters in the evaluation of obstructive uropathy and may also show the causes of the disease. Our study indicated that the added value of a simultaneous CT imaging renal scintigraphy and SPECT had a clear added value of confidence in daily clinical practice.

We report 3 patients presenting with acute scrotal pain who had normal scrotal color Doppler ultrasound scans; subsequent ultrasound of the ipsilateral kidney revealed hydronephrosis, which ultimately led to the clinically unsuspected diagnosis of ureteral colic. We conclude that ureteral colic should be included in the differential diagnosis of acute scrotal pain, and we further suggest that a survey ultrasound of the kidney on the side of the pain should be performed in patients presenting with acute scrotal pain and a normal color Doppler ultrasound examination of the scrotum.
ConclusionsHydronephrosis may be caused by uncommon reasons, such as ureteral endometriosis, which can even cause silent loss of renal function. Routine ultrasound scanning of the upper urinary tract for severe stages of endometriosis is very important in order to detect any potential ureteral lesions. Ureterolysis should be considered as the first surgical step, not only to avoid iatrogenic ureteral injuries but also to better evaluate ureter involvement for further procedures. To warrant tension‐free and lesion‐free anastomosis, it is wise to perform ureteroneocystostomy for long‐term sound results.

Lymphedema distichiasis syndrome (LDS) is a rare, autosomal dominant genetic condition, characterized by lower limb lymphedema and distichiasis. Conclusions To our knowledge, we present the initial experience with laparoscopic onlay lingual mucosal graft ureteroplasty for proximal ureteral stricture. With 9-month outcomes, the new technique appears to be an excellent option for proximal ureteral stricture.
CONCLUSION: This study shows greater reliance on ultrasound in females but no other sex-specific differences in the management of ED patients with acute renal colic.
