A plastic surgeon deals with reconstructive surgery potentially all over the body e.g. burns, breast reconstruction post-mastectomy, hand surgery, etc. Some plastic surgeons are also involved in cosmetic surgery, but this is actually only a small part of the overall specialty.
An oral and maxillofacial surgeon is dual qualified in medicine and dentistry. They treat surgical conditions affecting the mouth, jaw, face, and neck e.g. cancers, facial trauma, etc.
I think cleft lip and palate surgery could fall under either specialty, so I guess it would depend on the individual surgeon's interests and area of expertise as well as the hospital they're w...
