The Editors' Choice

Tree pollen allergy is often caused by pollen from the birch tree family, including hazel, alder, birch, and others. Cosensitization to pollen within this family is common, extending the season and geographic area in which allergic symptoms are triggered. In this issue, Biedermann et  al (p 1058) report results of a large phase III clinical trial on a new sublingual immunotherapy tablet containing birch pollen extract (SQ tree SLIT-tablet; ALK-Abelló, Hørsholm, Denmark) for treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis:
