Pumping iron could save your life

(Osaka University) Researchers from Osaka University have found that sarcopenia, a condition characterized by decreased skeletal muscle mass, is strongly associated with poor treatment outcomes in lung cancer patients in response to programed death-1 (PD-1)-inhibitor therapy. However, as well as being useful for identifying patients likely to benefit from this type of therapy, early identification and treatment of sarcopenia may improve the long-term survival rates of a larger group of patients.
