The Emerging Role of Liquid Biopsies in Lymphoproliferative Disorders

AbstractPurpose of the ReviewLymphomas represent clinically and molecularly heterogeneous diseases with variable presentations, treatment algorithms, and outcomes. As treatment options continue to expand, more sophisticated prognostic and predictive biomarkers are needed to guide personalized treatment approaches.Recent FindingsLiquid biopsies, in which the sequencing of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in peripheral blood serves as a surrogate for a tumor biopsy, are now being studied across cancer subtypes, including in lymphoid malignancies. Recent studies have demonstrated the potential of these techniques to improve prognostication and guide individualized treatment strategies, providing a significant advance in the field of precision medicine.SummaryIn this review, we describe the sequencing platforms currently available for analysis of ctDNA in lymphoma and their potential applications in clinical practice, which seem poised to refine treatment paradigms across lymphoma subtypes.
