Clinical significance of metabolism-related biomarkers in non-Hodgkin lymphoma – MCT1 as potential target in diffuse large B cell lymphoma

ConclusionsOur results indicate that elevated glycolytic activity is associated with NHL aggressiveness, pointing at metabolic cooperation, mediated by MCT1 and MCT4, between tumour cells and their surrounding stroma. MCT1 may serve as a target to treat NHL (diffuse large B cell lymphoma) patients with high MCT1/low MCT4 expressing tumours. Further (pre-)clinical studies are required to allow the design of novel therapeutic strategies aimed at e.g. reprogramming the tumour microenvironment.

Conclusions: Results support a causal relationship between butadiene and leukemia. Interpretation of results for lung cancer among women and for bladder cancer is uncertain because of inability to control for smoking and inadequate or inconsistent support from other studies for an association between butadiene or styrene and the latter cancers.

CONCLUSION: In a real-world setting, the QLQ-C30 summary score has a strong prognostic value for overall survival for a number of populations of patients with cancer above and beyond that provided by clinical and sociodemographic variables. In conclusion, tissue miR-155, miR-196b, miR-9, miR-125b, and miR-let-7b expression profiles differentiate PCNSL from n-ML. PCNSL CSFs and the relevant biopsy samples are characterized by specific, different microRNA profiles. A logistic regression model is proposed to discriminate between PCNSL and non-malignant brain lesions. None of the examined microRNAs influenced overall survival of PCNSL patients.
