In this study, we demonstrated the effects of astaxanthin for differentiation to osteoblasts of MC3T3-E1 by the addition of acetaldehyde and Aldh2∗2 Tg mesenchymal stem cells in bone marrow. Astaxanthin restores the inhibited osteoblastogenesis by acetaldehyde in MC 3T3-E1 and in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells of Aldh2∗2 Tg mice. In this study, we reported the heterogeneous activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in prostate cancer. We developed a Wnt/β-catenin signaling reporting system to directly characterize the differences between Wnt/β-catenin signaling active (GFP+) and inactive (GFP-) cells. Compared to GFP- cells, GFP+ cells demonstrated cancer stem cell properties with higher colony formation efficiency, slower cell cycle, higher resistance to docetaxel and higher expression of cancer stem cell markers. In this study, we attempted to investigate the effect of IGF-1 on the gene expression of intracellular Ca2+-handling proteins and figure out whether the intracellular Ca2+ signal affects IGF-1-induced osteogenic differentiation.
