CONCLUSIONS: There is insufficient evidence to inform practice about the use of guided imagery for hypertension in pregnancy. The available evidence for this review topic is sparse, and the effect of guided imagery for treating hypertension during pregnancy (compared with quiet rest) remains unclear. There was low-certainty evidence that guided imagery made little or no difference to the use of antihypertensive drugs, downgraded because of imprecision. The two included trials did not report on any of the primary outcomes of this review. We did not identify any trials comparing guided imagery with no intervention, or with ano...

We examined the expression of TRPV1 in peripheral tissue and DRG neurons of CPIP model rats and we studied whether CPIP model could induce peripheral sensitization of TRPV1 channel and enhance DRG neuron excitability. Then we examined the therapeutic effects of locally applied TRPV1 specific antagonist AMG9810 on pain responses of CPIP model rats. Lastly, we explored the effects of AMG9810 on DRG neuron hyperexcitability and spinal glial activation induced by CPIP. Our results demonstrate that TRPV1 plays an important role in mediating the behavioral hypersensitivity of CPIP model rats via promoting peripheral nociceptor a...

CONCLUSION:: This study shows that the combination of manual acupuncture and donepezil in an Alzheimer's disease animal model is superior to acupuncture and donezepil alone. However, randomised controlled trials should be undertaken to clarify the clinical efficacy of combination therapy. PMID: 30843424 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Han X, Bai L, Sun C, Niu X, Ning Y, Chen Z, Li Y, Li K, Lyu D, Fu C, Cui F, Chen Z, Tan Z, Tang L, Zou Y Abstract Stroke is a leading cause of motor disability. Acupuncture is an effective therapeutic strategy for poststroke motor impairment. However, its mechanism is still elusive. Twenty-two stroke patients having a right-hemispheric subcortical infarct and 22 matched healthy controls were recruited to undergo diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanning. The resting-state fMRI was implemented before and after needling at GB34 (Yanglingquan). The stroke patient...

This study aimed to establish a friendly environment of active living and healthy eating for citizens while promoting and increasing knowledge of healthy exercise. Acquisition of physical activity skills and citizens’ lifestyle changes result in reduction in rates of obesity and deaths related to underlying metabolism syndrome. This study used a non-experimental cross-sectional design to survey residents living in Taiwan’s rural Miaoli County. The inclusion criterion was positive screening for metabolic syndrome. In total, 2068 participants were recruited, and 1886 questionnaires (91.2%) were completed....
