Comparison of two-view digital breast tomosynthesis to three-view digital mammography in a simulated screening setting.

CONCLUSION: In this retrospective initial study, the detection performance of two-view DBT and three-view DM were statistically equivalent. Future studies should determine whether three-view DM is a viable alternative to DBT for screening, given its cost and work-flow. PMID: 30525870 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsThis study contains the largest population dataset of ILC evaluated to date. While total breast cancer incidence rates in Ontario are largely unchanged, ILC incidence rates are steadily increasing and there is a trend towards diagnosis of ILC at a later stage. These trends highlight the ongoing diagnostic and treatment challenge ILC presents for patients and clinicians.

This study aimed to evaluate the awareness and practice of breast self-examination (BSE) and the awareness of screening and risk factors for breast cancer among patients from a mastology clinic and to associate such findings with sociodemographic factors of that population. A total of 202 randomly selected patients from the outpatient clinic of the Mastology Unit of S ão Paulo School of Medicine were interviewed. A structured questionnaire was used and included questions regarding sociodemographic variables, questions to assess the knowledge and practice of BSE, and knowledge of mammographic screening and risk facto...

CONCLUSIONS: This unique tailored approach to risk assessment will further empower females and clinicians towards a more informed clinical decision process regarding future imaging pathways. It will also inform health policy decisions regarding alternate screening durations and intervals. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE: Breast-iRRISC is a novel tool that provides females, clinicians and health policymakers around the globe with the ability to quantify the lifetime risk of radiation-induced breast cancer from screening mammography on an individual level from a single exposure.
