Authors: Finucci A, Ditto MC, Parisi S, Borrelli R, Priora M, Realmuto C, Fusaro E Abstract Rheumatic manifestations are the most frequent extra-intestinal manifestations (EIMs) in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) patients, and they are responsible for a relevant reduction of quality of life. IBD is associated with a variety of musculoskeletal manifestations such as arthritis and non-inflammatory pain as well as with metabolic diseases, such as osteoporosis. Different imaging techniques (primarily ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging and X-rays) can help the clinician to correctly identify the nature of manifesta...

CONCLUSIONS: Management of DTC treated with lobectomy or TTx but without 131I is worldwide changing. The evidences suggest that in this setting of patients with LR or IR of recurrences, a relaxed surveillance could represent the most reasonable choice. AbstractUltrasound image segmentation plays an important role in computer-aided diagnosis of breast cancer. Existing approaches focused on extracting the tumor tissue to characterize the tumor class. However, other tissues are also helpful for providing the references. In this paper, a multi-target semantic segmentation approach is proposed based on the fully convolutional network for segmenting the breast ultrasound image into different target tissue regions. For handling the uncertain affiliation of pixels in blurry boundaries, the certain outputs of pixel characteristics in AlexNet are transformed into the fuzzy decisio...

CONCLUSION: Breast ultrasound shows a high sensitivity to detect breast cancer during pregnancy. BCP is diagnosed at a higher stage than in nonpregnant women. In our series, patients with BCP had poorer outcomes than the not pregnant group. These results were not observed when adjusting for stage. PMID: 32623975 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Ziemlewicz TJ, Hinshaw JL, Lubner MG, Knott EA, Willey BJ, Lee FT, Brace CL Abstract Purpose: The goal of this study was to compare intra-procedural radiofrequency (RF) and microwave ablation appearance on non-contrast CT (NCCT) and ultrasound to the zone of pathologic necrosis.Materials and methods: Twenty-one 5-min ablations were performed in vivo in swine liver with (1) microwave at 140 W, (2) microwave at 70 W, or (3) RF at 200 W (n = 7 each). CT and US images were obtained simultaneously at 1, 3, and 5 min during ablation and 2, 5, and 10 min post-...

Authors: Ricco G, Cosma C, Bedogni G, Biasiolo A, Guarino M, Pontisso P, Morisco F, Oliveri F, Cavallone D, Bonino F, Plebani M, Brunetto MR Abstract BACKGROUND: The time-related variability of HCC biomarkers has not been investigated so far. OBJECTIVE: To assess the changes of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and protein induced by vitamin-K absence/antagonist-II (PIVKA-II) in patients with HCC (HCC+) as compared to patients without HCC (HCC-). METHODS: AFP and PIVKA-II were measured by a single laboratory using an automated chemiluminescent-enzyme-immunoassay (Fujirebio Inc., Tokyo, Japan) in 1163 sera of 418 cirr...
