Hepatectomy in a case of hepatocellular carcinoma with constitutional indocyanine green excretory defect

ConclusionsConstitutional ICG excretory defect is an extremely rare disorder. At present, the indications for surgery for this condition should be comprehensively considered. Findings of liver function tests, such as a general liver function test and GSA liver scintigraphy, are important for treating this disorder.

CONCLUSION: Up-regulation of miR-342 inhibited cell proliferation and induced cell apoptosis in HCC by inhibiting Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, suggesting that miR-342 might act as a promising tumor gene therapeutic target for HCC patients. PMID: 31006667 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Adachi Y, Matsuki M, Watanabe H, Takase K, Kodama K, Matsui J, Funahashi Y, Nomoto K Abstract High expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is associated with poor prognosis. Here, we investigated the antitumor activity of lenvatinib, a multiple receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, in VEGF-overexpressing HCC models. In human umbilical vein endothelial cells, lenvatinib showed potent inhibitory activities against VEGF-induced proliferation and VEGF/basic fibroblast growth factor-induced tube formation. In VEGF-overexpressing HCC xenograft models,...

CONCLUSIONS: The study showed a high pCR rate with no severe toxicity, good follow-up results, and good loco-regional control. Therefore, addition of oxaliplatin to preoperative CRT with S-1 in patients with LARC might be feasible and lead to better local control than standard treatment. PMID: 31005216 [PubMed - in process]

ConclusionsFrom our data we conclude that hypo-phosphorylated CD147 promotes the migration and invasion of HCC cells and correlates with an unfavorable prognosis in HCC patients, indicating that targeting the aberrantly hypo-phosphorylated form of CD147 may be instrumental for the development of novel therapeutic modalities directed against HCC metastasis.

AbstractPurpose of reviewTo review the current status and ideal time interval of the combination therapy of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and local ablation for patients with HCCs.Recent findingsIn recent years, local ablation has been proposed as an alternative curative treatment in the management of HCC. Additionally, many treatment options are available including TACE molecular targeted agents and immune checkpoint inhibitors. Similar overall survival rates and prognoses have been obtained with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) microwave ablation (MWA) and cryoablation for patients with HCCs up to 3  cm in dia...

ConclusionsFindings confirm high 1-year mortality for advanced HCC, suggesting a high cost burden. While no 2L therapy was available during this analysis, recently approved 2L agents have the potential to improve survival after sorafenib failure or intolerance.

ConclusionOur work highlights significant age, racial, and comorbid factors in the development of VTE in hospitalized patients with HCC in the US. These findings can help in stratification of HCC patients according to their VTE risk. Patients at higher risk of VTE may benefit from more aggressive pharmacologic prophylaxis, an area for future investigation.
