Cumulative exposure to nighttime environmental noise and the incidence of peptic ulcer.

CONCLUSION: Our finding supports previous reports on the damaging effect of environmental noise on the gastrointestinal tract and suggests that cumulative exposure to environmental nighttime noise affects the development of peptic ulcers. PMID: 30366660 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Abstract In the global incidence of peptic ulcer, with the associated rates of hospitalizations and mortality are increasing, in the United States, peptic ulcer disease affects approximately 4.6 million people annually, with an estimated 10% of the US population having evidence of a duodenal ulcer. The present research aims to find a novel treatment for ethanol induced ulcer by loading thymoquinone (TQ) on a nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC), using Compritol® 888 and coconut oil. The TQ-loaded coconut oil NLC was formulated using melt emulsification combined with a sonication method using Poloxamer 188 as a s...

CONCLUSION: The findings of this study indicated that bezoars are more common among subjects with history of gastrointestinal surgery, diabetes mellitus, or psychiatric disorders; bezoars are closely related to peptic ulcer and reflux esophagitis; and they can be successfully treated with endoscopy. Abstract Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is the most common disorder of the stomach and duodenum, which is associated with Helicobacter pylori infection. PUD occurs due to an imbalance between offensive and defensive factors and proton pump inhibitors (PPI), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and antibiotics are frequently used for the treatment. Recently, medicinal plants have emerged as efficacious, safe and widely available alternative therapies for PUD. The aim of this review was to study the medicinal plants and phytochemicals, which have been used for PUD treatment to evaluate the potential role of nat...

CONCLUSION: Over the 23 years studied, the causes of NVUGB changed, probably because the population was increasingly elderly population and because of the use of anticoagulants and better therapeutic approaches to chronic duodenal ulcers. The use of emergency surgical hemostasis reduced, but mortality rate did not significantly change between the two specific periods. PMID: 31258140 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION: Our study shows that the interaction between the type of infectious strain and the Th1 immune response can influence and perpetuate gastric inflammation, and thus contributes to the development of the different clinical manifestations of H. pylori infection.RESUMO CONTEXTO: A associa ção da infecção por Helicobacter pylori com diferentes doenças gastroduodenais pode estar associada a fatores bacterianos, do hospedeiro e do ambiente. Nesse contexto, estudos têm demonstrado que a diversidade genética do H. pylori, sobretudo nos genes vacA e cagA, está associa...

Therefore, there is a need for newer efficient and safe anti-ulcer agents. In the present strategy, we have prepared a novel bioactive glass containing 1.3 mol% of barium oxide (BaBG) and evaluated its antiulcer potential in gastroduodenal ulcer models. Pr...
