A measurement of the attenuation of radiation from F-18 by a PET/MR scanner.

A measurement of the attenuation of radiation from F-18 by a PET/MR scanner. J Appl Clin Med Phys. 2018 Oct 19;: Authors: Wendt RE, Ai HA, Meier JG, Lopez BP, Fahrenholtz SJ, Mawlawi OR Abstract The attenuation of 511 keV photons by the structure of a PET/MR scanner was measured prior to energizing the magnet. The exposure rate from a source of fluorine-18 was measured in air and, with the source placed at the isocenter of the instrument, at various points outside of the scanner. In an arc from 45 to 135 degrees relative to the long axis of the scanner and at a distance of 1.5 m from the isocenter, the attenuation by the scanner is at least 5.6 half-value layers from the MR component alone and at least 6.6 half-value layers with the PET insert installed. This information could inform better design of the radiation shielding for PET/MR scanners. PMID: 30338918 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In addition to the prior results of Fast-Scan Calorimetry, FSC, evidence that recrystallization caused double PET melting peaks was obtained. An exothermic recrystallization peak was directly observed in the second heating run of FSC after the lower-temperature melting peak was eliminated through rapid heating and cooling. FSC was then performed with a temperatur...

The microstructure, corrosion behavior, and mechanical properties were analyzed. Electrochemical and immersion techniques were applied for corrosion behavior analysis. Moreover, scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy (SKPFM) was utilized to measure the surface Volta-potential. It was found that an increase in SR temperature decreased the strength by increasing the grain size and reduc...

Chuang The presence of small amounts of human serum albumin (HSA) in urine or microalbuminuria (30–300 µg/mL) is a valuable clinical biomarker for the early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Herein, we report on the development of an inexpensive and disposable immunosensor for the sensitive, specific, and label-free detection of HSA using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). We have utilized a simple one-step screen-printing protocol to fabricate the carbon-based three-electrode system on flexible plastic substrates. To enable efficient antibody immobilization and improved sensiti...
