Buccolingual inclination of molars in untreated children and adults: A cone beam computed tomography study.

CONCLUSIONS: Maxillary first molars exhibited buccal inclination. Adults displayed less inclination than did children. Mandibular first molars exhibited lingual inclination. Adults displayed less inclination than did children. Some degree of curve of Wilson should be maintained at the end of orthodontic treatment to fulfill physiologic needs and stability. Conclusions: The maximum length of the coracoid available for transfer in Malasian Malay patients was less than what has been recommended in the literature for the Latarjet procedure. The surface area that would be increased after a coracoid graft is placed on the glenoid would be 12.4±1.8 mm. Knowledge obtained from this study may help us further optimize osseous considerations for the Latarjet procedure in the Malaysian Malay population. Level of Evidence: Level III.

We report a case of a 48-year-old Caucasian woman who was treated at the University General Hospital of Alicante. She consulted because of progressive abdominal pain over the last seven months, with the initial diagnosis of renal-ureteral colic. Ultrasound and computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis revealed a 25x15 cm, well-defined cystic lesion with papillary projections, centrally located in the abdomen. The radiology report suggested a primary ovarian tumor versus peritoneal implant as the first option. The patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy showing a large cystic mass located in the urinary bladder peri...

AbstractObjectivesThe aim of this study was to compare the palatal total support tissues (TSTs) and bone support tissues (BSTs) at 5-mm paramedian section to the midsagittal suture between mouth breathers with high-narrow palates and nose breathers with normal palates and confirm the practicability and limitation on superimposition of lateral cephalograms and plaster models for orthodontic mini-implant (OMI) implantation in these patients.Material and methodsThe sample consisted of 27 mouth breathers with high-narrow palates (study group (SG)) and 27 nose breathers with normal palates (control group (CG)). Upper digital de...

AbstractObjectivesTo test if the partially digital workflow by digitalisation of the impression reveals a comparable accuracy as the indirect digitalisation of the gypsum cast for 4-unit fixed dental prostheses (FDPs).Materials and methodsA titanium model with a tapered full veneer preparation of a molar and premolar was used as analysis model. To receive a virtual three-dimensional reference dataset (REF), it was digitised by industrial computed tomography. Three impression materials were used with individual impression trays (N = 36,n/material  = 12): (1) PE (Impregum Penta), (2) PVS-I (Imprin...

ConclusionsAnterior osteotomy just to the midline of inferior border and horizontal osteotomy to the mandibular foramen are associated with split patterns that result in optimal rigid fixation and passive bony overlap for OSA patients undergoing MMA.Clinical relevanceOptimal surgical technique has the most significant influence in allowing rapid return to function after MMA in patients with OSA.
