To get a grasp of the socioeconomics of atopic dermatitis (AD), we need to understand its prevalence in the population, its burden, co-morbidities, and costs, both direct and indirect. Only then can we extrapolate whether it makes sense for society to cover new, more costly treatments in the management of this condition.
