Early exfoliation of permanent tooth in patient with hypophosphatasia

ConclusionPermanent teeth may have a risk of early exfoliation as well as other structural abnormalities in HPP patients, thus longitudinal dental follow-up examinations of affected patients are required.

In this study, we investigated the mechanism by which 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) sensitizes tumor cells to TTFields. Human HCT116 and SW480 CRC cells were treated with 5-FU and/or TTFields, and characterized in vitro in terms of cell viability, apoptosis through reactive oxygen species production, autophagy, and metastatic potentials. The biological effects of 5-FU and/or TTFields were studied via positron emission tomography and computed tomography on xenograft tumor growth and were confirmed with organoid models of patients. Our results revealed that combination treatment with 5-FU and TTFields increased the efficiency of TTF...

BooneAbstractX-ray Fluorescence Computed Tomography (XFCT) is an emerging imaging technique that provides elemental distribution in objects non-invasively. To predict and optimize the experimental outcome of XFCT, data generated by Monte Carlo (MC) simulation is usually used. However, MC codes typically require extended computing times to generate sufficient data. In this paper, we report an XFCT simulation method based on analytical computat...

We present a rare case of a major haemorrhage in a 46-year-old patient, 26 days post-vaginoplasty. An urgent computed tomography scan identified a large retrovesical collection, with high-density contents in keeping with recent haemorrhage, containing a 6mm pseudoaneurysm within the right lateral wall. Following resuscitation, the patient was urgently treated with successful embolization of the feeding artery (branch of the prostatic artery), with pushable coils. We highlight the importance of expedient, life-saving management in a rare post-operative complication.
