Induction Chemoradiotherapy Versus Chemotherapy Alone for Superior Sulcus Lung Cancer
Superior sulcus tumors are the most challenging group of non-small-cell lung cancers (NSCLC) to treat successfully. Originally these uniformly fatal tumors were described in 1932 by radiologist Henry Pancoast whose name is commonly attached to this malignancy [1]. In the 1950 ’s, the strategy of induction radiotherapy followed by aggressive surgery with en bloc resection of the involved chest wall resulted in up to a 30% long-term cure [2,3].
