Race and Atrial Fibrillation: A Riddle, Wrapped in a Mystery, Inside an Enigma

In 1939, Winston Churchill famously referred to the future actions of Russia as, “a riddle, wrapped in mystery, inside an enigma.” While this quote is often used to describe the puzzles encountered in modern life, his point was that the riddle itself may reveal valuable clues. He continued, “but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest.” In this issu e of the Journal, Dr. Ugowe and colleagues provide a systematic review of the literature regarding racial and ethnic differences in the prevalence, management, and outcomes of atrial fibrillation (AF).
