Mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis and targeting opportunities

Director's Seminar Series Cancer metastasis is the primary cause of cancer-associated death. Current treatment strategies have been largely ineffective in patients with metastatic disease. It ’ s becoming clear that the tumor microenvironment plays an essential role in the metastatic process. We investigate the critical inflammatory and immune suppressive mediators that promote metastatic cancer cell survival and colonization at distant organ site. Our work provides insights for metastatic biology and therapeutic options aimed at targeting metastatic breast cancer.Air date: 5/18/2018 12:00:00 PM
