Sex and age modify the relationship between life circumstances and use of a firearm in suicide deaths across 17 U.S. states

The U.S. all-cause suicide mortality rate increased from 12.6 to 13.3 per 100,000 from 2013 to 2015, while firearm suicide rates increased from 6.3 to 6.5 per 100,000 from 2013 to 2015 (Centers  for Disease Control and Prevention, National Centers for Injury Prevention and Control 2017).
