Bioactive triterpenoid glycosides from the twigs and leaves of Camellia reticulata

Publication date: June 2018 Source:Phytochemistry Letters, Volume 25 Author(s): Qi-Run Chen, Dan Li, Xu-Jie Qin, Hui Liu, Wei Ni, Huan Yan, Li He, Qing Zhao, Xiao Ma, Hai-Yang Liu Four previously undescribed oleanane-type triterpenoid glycosides (dianshanchaosides A–D) were isolated from the twigs and leaves of Camellia reticulata, together with seven known analogues. Their structures were established by comprehensive spectroscopic data and chemical methods The triterpenoid glycosides were evaluated their inhibitory effects on the LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 macrophages and cytotoxicities against five human cancer cell lines (HL-60, A-549, SMMC-7721, MCF-7, and SW480). Glycosides 2–6, 9, and 10 displayed significant cytotoxicities against the five human cancer lines with IC50 values in the range of 0.54–9.49 μM. Graphical abstract
