A Retrospective Examination of Issues Addressed during Music Therapy Sessions with Adults Diagnosed with Leukemia, Lymphoma, or Multiple Myeloma

Background: Individuals diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma may experience psychological and physical issues throughout the treatment process which can adversely affect outcomes. Music Therapy (MT) is a complementary treatment that may be implemented in tandem with conventional forms of treatment to address these issues. MT is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, sensory, and social issues. Recently, the MT profession has expanded in the medical model to address the needs of adults diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
