Beliefs and Myths about Exercise During Pregnancy among Pregnant Youth: A Qualitative Study

Purpose: Exercise during pregnancy has clear mental and physical health benefits for pregnant women including improved sleep and mood, and prevention of gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. Most women do not achieve the recommended amount of exercise during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to understand the knowledge and beliefs of pregnant youth regarding exercise during pregnancy, and how these beliefs may affect their level of activity during pregnancy.
