Transitions in an Era of Disruptive Change

I attended my first American Society of Human Genetics meeting, the 25th anniversary meeting, in Atlanta, GA in  1973. I was an undergraduate presenting a study of chromosome banding I helped to complete as a summer student at a community hospital near where I grew up. I had been exposed to genetics a couple of summers before, as a high school junior working in a program sponsored by the National Science Fo undation. My interests at that time were evolving toward medicine, but this experience exposed me to scientific research.
