Radiofrequency Denervation for Chronic Low Back Pain

To the Editor Chronic low back pain is a symptom that may originate from a variety of lumbosacral structures. Thus, identifying the correct anatomic source of pain is essential for selecting the appropriate treatment. Numerous studies including, but not limited to, investigations by MacVicar et al and Dreyfuss et al have demonstrated excellent clinical outcomes for radiofrequency denervation when rigorous selection criteria were applied to establish the correct diagnosis and specific procedural technique is used.
