Florida Blue to stop covering controversial opiates
Florida Blue, the leading health insurer in Florida, no longer will cover OxyContin starting Jan. 1 in its commercial insurance lines.
The move is in response to a nationwide opioid epidemic.
President Donald Trump declared a National Public Health Emergency regarding the opioid epidemic in October, and Gov. Rick Scott has signed an executive order proclaiming the issue a statewide emergency.
