Prognostic value of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 mass for all-cause mortality and vascular events within one year after acute ischemic stroke: Methodological issues

We read with interest the article by Han and colleagues published in Atherosclerosis [1]. The authors purposed to examine the longer-term prognostic value of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) mass for all-cause mortality and vascular events within one year after acute ischemic stroke. They concluded that elevated Lp-PLA2 mass was independently associated with all cause-death. Certainly, Han et al. have conducted a useful study, but some methodological issues need to be considered.
