Abstract P521: Relationship Between Carotid Arterial Elastic Properties and Central Aortic Hemodynamics in Patients with Stroke [Session Title: Vascular]

This study aims to investigate the association between carotid artery parameters and central aortic hemodynamics in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods: A total of 101 consecutive patients with ischemic stroke who underwent clinically indicated transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) were performed carotid ultrasonography to assess vascular elastic properties. Using velocity-vector imaging (VVI), instantaneous vessel area (cm2) and deformation as fractional area change (FAC, %) and circumferential strain (%) were obtained in both cross-sectional image of common carotid artery (CA) and descending thoracic aorta (DTA) during TEE.Results: In correlation analysis, elastic properties of DTA including FAC, circumferential strain and vessel area were significantly correlated with the corresponding values of CA, respectively (all p
