Liberia: Eating Our Way to the Grave - the Obesity Epidemic in Liberia

[New Dawn] In 2010 the problem of obesity became a bigger public-health problem than world hunger, according to the Global Burden of Disease Study. Obesity, defined by the World Health Organization as "an abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health" has more than doubled worldwide in the past twenty years. More than 1.9 billion adults worldwide are overweight, and of these, 600 million are obese. The people of the world are becoming bigger, and the Republic of Liberia is no different.
